HS2 engineers erect Heras fencing to surround three environmental activists from Extinction Rebellion who have climbed a veteran oak tree close to the Harvil Road wildlife protection camp in order to try to protect it from felling. HS2 are expected to try to fell large numbers of mature trees in the immediate vicinity over the weekend even though the high-speed rail link is still awaiting Boris Johnson’s approval.

Around 40 environmental activists and local residents, some of whom living in makeshift tree houses 60 feet above the ground, were present during the evictions at Jones’ Hill Wood which had served as one of several protest camps set up along the route of the £106bn HS2 high-speed rail link in order to resist the controversial infrastructure project.
