Numerous unmarked security guards were present outside the venue.

Students join UCL security officers, cleaners and porters outsourced via Axis and Sodexo and belonging to the Independent Workers of Great Britain (IWGB) trade union at a protest outside the university to call for decent terms and conditions and an end to outsourcing, discrimination and ‘precarity and mismanagement’. The terms and conditions of outsourced workers at UCL are considerably worse than for comparable UCL employees, with no occupational sick pay and reduced annual leave entitlement and pensions.
