Diane Abbott, Shadow Home Secretary, addresses protesters gathered outside the Home Office to protest against the conviction using an anti-terrorism offence under the Aviation and Maritime Security Act 1990 of the Stansted 15 following non-violent direct action to try to prevent a Home Office deportation flight carrying immigrants to Nigeria, Ghana and Sierra Leone from taking off from Stansted airport in March 2017. The judge directed the jury to disregard evidence put forward in their defence that their acts were intended to stop human rights abuses.
