Thames Valley Police stepped in to replace National Eviction Team bailiffs. The activists created the Poors Piece Conservation Project in the woodland in spring 2020 after having been invited to stay on the land by its owner, farmer Clive Higgins.

Already, local village communities have been hugely impacted by HS2, with 550 acres of land seized including a large section of a nature reserve.
