Around 40 anti-HS2 activists and local residents, some of whom living in makeshift tree houses 60 feet above the ground, were present during the evictions at Jones’ Hill Wood which had served as one of several protest camps set up along the route of the £106bn HS2 high-speed rail link in order to resist the controversial infrastructure project.

A large policing operation involving the Metropolitan Police, Thames Valley Police, City of London Police and Hampshire Police as well as the National Eviction Team was put in place to enable HS2 to remove the tree.
