Harefield, UK. 19 January, 2020. A camp pitched by activists from Extinction Rebellion, Stop HS2 and Save the Colne Valley attending a ‘Stand for the Trees’ event timed to coincide with tree felling work for the high-speed rail link on land from which bailiffs acting for HS2 had evicted activists living in the Colne Valley wildlife protection camp almost two weeks previously. 108 ancient woodlands are set to be destroyed by the high-speed rail link. Examples of saplings planted as mitigation measures by HS2 appear in the distance.
